The weather outside is frightful, but the thoughts of warm summer days at the pool are quite delightful. To get a jump start on its plans for next summer, the City’s Parks & Recreation Department has opened the application process for several seasonal positions for the 2020 season.
For lifeguards, competitive wages start at $10/hour and previous lifeguard experience is not required. Parks & Recreation offers a Lifeguard Certification Course for $100 (the average cost is $225-265). Additionally, all staff who work through the end of the pool season, attend the pre-season staff meetings and complete 100% of the in-service training sessions receive an incentive bonus.
If lifeguarding isn’t for you, there are seasonal positions available with our tennis, facilities or parks staff. To make this process easier, Parks & Recreation staff are hosting walk-in interviews during the holiday breaks for lifeguards, tennis court workers and pool office workers on the following dates and times:
- Wednesday, November 27: 9-11 am
- Friday, December 20: 9-11 am
- Monday, December 23: 9-11 am & 1-3 pm
All interviews are located at the Municipal Services Center, 3600 Tremont Road. No appointment necessary. You can apply online in advance or fill out your application when you arrive for your interview.
