Senior Center Luncheon

September – Lunch with Bob Mann

Did you know that Andy Griffith had a special Martin Guitar he played for over 50 years? Only 300 of these guitars exist and have Andy Griffith’s signature on the label. Mr. Bob Mann a professional musician has #241 of these unique Andy Griffith guitars and has created an interesting set of tunes to share with audiences. Bob Mann guitarist/vocalist entertains us with popular music that you will recognize and enjoy. He shares the story of the guitar and why it is special.

Menu: brats and chicken cooked on the grill with assorted toppings, hot vegetable, fresh fruit and dessert.

October – Enjoy the Harmony of Sweet Adeline’s

We all enjoy the delightful harmony of the Sweet Adeline’s as they sing songs that evoke pleasant memories and emotions from our past. These four women are all members of our center and dance together in the Zumba Gold® class. Come hear them perform beautiful harmonies.

Menu: tender baked chicken, scalloped potatoes, hot vegetable, fresh fruit and dessert.

November – Thanksgiving Meal & Veteran Recognition

Every year we take time to recognize Veterans who served for our freedom. Back by popular request is Mark Gordon Gaskill who performed at the senior center this past spring. He uses keyboard, guitar and vocals to provide a great set of music from 1935-1960. Mark performs classic tunes known to all to recognize the Veterans as well as popular tunes that get the toes tapping and hands clapping. Sign up early as this luncheon sells out. There is a discount for Veterans but only a paid reservation holds you a seat.

Menu: turkey, dressing, mashed potatoes, hot vegetable and pumpkin pie.

December – Holiday Meal

Join us for American Classics performed by Scott Brooks. Scott draws his inspiration from the music of the Great American Songbook – Cole Porter, Gershwin, Johnny Mercer and more. Scott provides a mix of popular music along with familiar holiday tunes we can sing along to. Come and celebrate the holidays with fellow members.

Menu: Beef Stroganoff with noodles, hot vegetable, fresh fruit and dessert.

January – New Years Party: Bingo, Pizza & Movie

Bid farewell to 2018 and ring in the New Year with fellow members by attending this annual event featuring Bingo games for grocery prizes, Tommy’s pizza (pepperoni or cheese) and a movie. Sign up in advance.

Menu: pepperoni or cheese pizza.

Submissions to our Community Calendar
As a service to the community, the City hosts an online Community Calendar. We invite you to submit details of upcoming special events that are open to and promote government interests of the community at-large, as determined by the City of Upper Arlington.

To submit a calendar listing, please use this online form. Submissions should include an image with a minimum size of 1920 pixels wide x 1275 pixels high. We recommend that you submit items at least three months in advance, since we may include some community events in the City’s print and e-newsletters as space allows.

The City will not post routine items such as programs, club meetings or classes. The inclusion of a special event does not represent an endorsement from the City.
