UA Author Series
October 20 @ 2:00 pm$15 – $35
The Upper Arlington Library and Upper Arlington Community Foundation have partnered for several years now on the increasingly popular Upper Arlington Author Series, bringing writers of national and international fame to our community. Event organizers are excited to announce that Samin Nosrat, author and host of the Netflix series Salt, Fat, Acid, Heat: Mastering the Elements of Good Cooking is the featured speaker.
Salt, Fat, Acid, Heat: Mastering the Elements of Good Cooking is a New York Times bestseller, and also 2018 James Beard General Cookbook of the Year, 2018 Fortnum & Mason Debut Cookbook, 2018 IACP Cookbook of the Year, 2018 IACP Julia Child First Book Award, and Sunday Times Food Book of the Year 2017. A documentary series based on the book is now streaming on Netflix. In 2018 Samin was named the Eater Chef of the Year. She is also one of five food columnists for the New York Times Magazine.
Jeni Britton Bauer of Jeni’s Splendid Ice Cream will host a conversation with Samin at the Upper Arlington High School on Sunday, October 20, beginning at 2 pm. This will be followed by a question and answer session with the audience, and a book signing from 3-4 pm. Grammercy Books Bexley is the official bookseller for the event, with 20% of the proceeds to be donated to the Ann Royce Moore Fund at the Foundation, in support of future author visits.
Tickets go on sale on August 1 and can be purchased by credit card at www.ualibrary.org, or by cash or check in person at the Adult Services desk at the UA Main Library. Tickets range in price from $15-$35.
A VIP reception is scheduled for 5:30-7 pm at the 1400 Food Lab, with Samin as the guest of honor. Jim Budros—one of the founders of City Barbeque—will be making some of of Samin’s recipes at the reception, and Steve Sim’s of Stevens Catering will be providing appetizers and beverages. Tickets for this event are $50 and will also be on sale starting August 1.
