Sections of Miller Park Playground Closed for Safety Reasons

Please be advised that many of the play elements designed for use by older children at the Miller Park Playground have been closed for safety reasons, due to some deterioration of various metal components. Caution tape has been placed around the affected elements, and the Parks & Forestry Division will be removing them as soon as possible.

Play elements remain that are suitable for toddler-aged children, and the park’s swing set is still safe to use. If you are looking for close alternative playgrounds, Westover Park and Northam Park are great options. (add links to the facilities pages for each park)

Parks & Recreation annually examines all playground equipment each fall and spring/summer, recognizing that weather conditions and usage can affect deterioration rates. In the fall of 2018, there were no signs of issues that would impact the integrity of this equipment.

Staff in the Parks & Recreation Department have already begun discussions about options for advancing the replacement schedule for this playground, so we encourage you to watch for updates and opportunities to participate in the planning process.
