Mike Hamer Promoted to Facilities Manager
The City of Upper Arlington is pleased to announce the promotion of Mike Hamer, currently serving as Aquatics Manager, to the position of Facilities Manager. In his new role, Hamer will work closely with Brian Mastin and take the lead on overseeing day-to-day operations of City offices and maintenance of all City-owned buildings, including the new Bob Crane Community Center that is set to open in the spring of 2025.
Hamer has been a member of the Upper Arlington team since February 2023, bringing over two decades of expertise in managing aquatic programming and facilities at municipalities in Ohio, Michigan, and Colorado to the Upper Arlington Parks & Recreation Department. His leadership has been instrumental in enhancing the quality and safety of our aquatic facilities, making them a cornerstone of our community’s summertime recreational offerings for residents and visitors alike.
As the new Facilities Manager, Hamer will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of planning, construction, and maintenance of City buildings. His proven track record and passion for community service makes him the ideal candidate to lead these facilities into the future. Hamer will continue to serve as the Aquatics Manager through the conclusion of the 2024 season.
As part of this transition, the City of Upper Arlington is now accepting applications for the position of Aquatics Manager. This role is responsible for overseeing all operations of the City’s three outdoor swimming pools, new indoor aquatic facility at the Bob Crane Community Center, and all aquatic programming. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in aquatics management, a passion for community service, and a commitment to maintaining the high standards Upper Arlington residents expect. This position will work closely to with the new Aquatics Coordinator, a role that is budgeted to be hired in Fall 2024.
