Riverside Drive Shared-Use Path Public Meeting
Since 2019, and in response to wide-spread resident input on the desire to expand walking and biking trails that connect with parks and neighboring communities, the City of Upper Arlington has been working to provide the community with multi-modal connections to the new Quarry Trails Metro Park. This new Metro Park is located to the immediate west of Upper Arlington and promises residents a new and exciting opportunity to engage in outdoor recreation activities not available within our own park system.
As part of these connections, the City is proposing an additional project that would connect to the new 10-foot-wide concrete shared use path on Lane Avenue from Riverside Drive to Asbury Road. A 10-foot-wide asphalt shared use path on Riverside Drive from Lane Avenue to Trabue Road is under design for construction in late 2024 and completion in 2025. These two projects will link to the Trabue Road Bridge that will be reconstructed by the Franklin County Engineer’s Office and include a 12-foot shared use path that connects directly to the Quarry Trails Metro Park.
The City of Upper Arlington has been conducting public outreach on the proposed Quarry Trails connections and has heard concerns about intersection safety at Lane Avenue, preservation of trees and the stone wall, along with general connection point questions. In response and accordance with our public engagement practices, our Engineering Division is working with the Engineering Firm, EP Ferris, to develop a conceptual layout for the path on the west side of Riverside Drive, and we believe at this time your feedback and comments can be collected to further the success of this exciting connection.
