The Purchasing Office of the Finance Department is responsible for the procurement of materials, supplies, equipment and services for the City, in compliance with the City’s fiscal policies and legal requirements. Such oversight ensures a fair and consistent process for vendors seeking to do business with the City, while enabling the City to secure high quality services and goods at the best possible prices.
An online bidding process enables vendors to register for automatic email notifications whenever the City is seeking bids for goods and services that said vendors have indicated they can provide. This eservice provides a convenient, “one time” means to be automatically registered for any appropriate bid opportunities as they come forward. Please note: It is important to be pre-registered in order to receive these notifications, as this is the only channel utilized for outreach to prospective vendors, unless specifications for the goods or services desired are complex and cannot easily make use of our online bidding tool.
The Purchasing Office oversees the disposal of surplus, used and confiscated property, and makes use of an online auction site – GovDeals.com – for this purpose. Items often to be found on GovDeals include confiscated or unclaimed property from the Police Division such as lost or unclaimed bicycles, jewelry and electronic goods. Also included may be old City office furniture and computers, vehicles, equipment and much more.
