Pickleball in UA

Pickleball has become one of Upper Arlington’s most popular recreational activities, and it’s easy to see why. The sport is uniquely accessible, with simple rules, minimal equipment, and a smaller court size that makes it easier on the body—appealing to players of all ages and skill levels. Its low physical demands paired with fun, fast-paced gameplay allow older adults to stay active while also engaging younger players looking for a social, competitive outlet. Whether played casually or competitively, pickleball fosters connection, encourages movement, and strengthens community ties—making it much more than just a game.

Available Pickleball Courts
Pickleball enthusiasts in Upper Arlington have access to a growing number of courts across the city, reflecting the sport’s rapid rise in popularity. Outdoor courts are available at Fancyburg Park, which features eight dedicated pickleball courts with permanent lines and portable nets, open to the public and free to use. Thompson Park offers additional multi-use courts that accommodate both tennis and pickleball players. Northam Park, recently renovated, now includes six new dedicated pickleball courts as part of a broader upgrade to its athletic facilities—enhancing its role as a hub for community recreation. Adding to these offerings, the newly opened Bob Crane Community Center offers indoor pickleball courts within its flexible gym spaces, making it possible to play year-round regardless of weather conditions.
