Upper Arlington Announces Promotion of New Police Chief
The City of Upper Arlington is pleased to announce the appointment of Keith Hall as its new Police Chief, effective April 8, 2024. With a wealth of experience and commitment to serving the community, Hall was promoted to the role and will focus on ensuring the safety of Upper Arlington and deepening the Police Divisions’ connections with the Upper Arlington community.
Hall is a seasoned law enforcement executive with a career spanning over two decades with the Upper Arlington Police Division. His tenure has been marked by dedication and exemplary leadership, having served in roles as Patrol Officer, Detective, Patrol Sergeant, Detective Sergeant, and Lieutenant over Criminal Investigations and Support Services.
The appointment of Hall follows a thorough nationwide search process conducted by GovHR USA, an Illinois-based recruiting, consulting, and staffing firm specializing in the public and non-profit sectors. The search attracted candidates from 12 states, including Ohio. Finalists underwent a thorough vetting process and participated in on-site interviews with City of Upper Arlington staff and community stakeholders.
“With his extensive experience, dedication, and vision for the future of law enforcement in Upper Arlington, I am confident Chief Hall will lead our Police Division with integrity and distinction,” said City Manager Steve Schoeny. “His vision for the department aligns with our commitment to community-focused policing and continuous improvement. We look forward to working closely with Chief Hall as we strive to make Upper Arlington a safer and more inclusive place for all residents.”
Hall holds a Master of Science degree in criminal justice from Tiffin University and a Bachelor of Criminal Justice from Ohio University. He is a graduate of the FBI National Academy, certified as a Law Enforcement Executive, and actively involved in professional organizations including the Ohio Association of Chiefs of Police.
Hall will succeed Chief Steve Farmer, who retired in February 2024 after 24 years of law enforcement experience and 5 years with the Upper Arlington Police Division. The City of Upper Arlington extends its heartfelt gratitude to the community for their patience and support during the selection process for a new Police Chief.
