Fire Division to Distribute Free Emergency Kits for National Preparedness Month
As part of National Emergency Preparedness Month, the Upper Arlington Fire Division’s Community Paramedicine Program, UA CARES, in partnership with Franklin County Public Health and UA CHAT, will be distributing 200 free emergency preparedness kits to residents on Monday, September 30, from 10 am-2pm at Fire Station 72. This drive-thru event is designed to make it easy for residents to pick up a kit, which includes essential emergency items to help them prepare for unexpected situations.
Each kit contains a flashlight, first aid kit, solar power bank, whistle, toothbrush, toothpaste, survival blanket, sanitizing wipes, tissues, a face mask, hand warmers, hand sanitizer, and important information on how to create a personal emergency plan. Kits will be distributed on a first-come, first-serve basis while supplies last.
This initiative was made possible by a grant from Franklin County Public Health to encourage residents to consider their specific needs when developing and adding to their emergency preparedness plan. In addition to the drive-thru event, kits will also be distributed to homebound residents to ensure that as many community members as possible have the resources they need to be prepared.
National Emergency Preparedness Month is observed every September to raise awareness about the importance of preparing for disasters and emergencies that could happen at any time. This distribution event is one of the many ways the City of Upper Arlington is working to ensure the safety of its residents.
