Construction Alert: Full Closure of Fishinger Road
Starting on April 15, 2024, a portion of Fishinger Road in Upper Arlington will be fully closed for approximately two weeks, weather permitting. The closure is necessary for construction crews to conduct a jack and bore operation. This process involves drilling horizontally underground to install new infrastructure and utilities without disrupting the surface.
The closure will impact Fishinger Road between Riverside Drive and Kioka Road. During this time, drivers are advised to use Nottingham Road as a detour route. Residents living within the closure area will still have access to their driveways.
Detour for drivers eastbound on Fishinger Road:
- Turn right on Riverside Drive
- Turn left on Nottingham Drive
- Turn left on Kioka Avenue
- Turn right on Fishinger Road

The jack and bore operation is a construction method used to create tunnels under roads without disturbing the surface. This technique is used for installing utilities such as pipelines and cables.
The City of Upper Arlington advises residents to plan for potential delays and to follow posted detour signs. Weather conditions may impact the timeline of the project, so the duration of the closure is subject to change.
Residents with questions may contact the Engineering Division at 614-583-5360, Monday-Friday between 7 am – 4 pm.
